OOTD: First Date Do’s

This just in: it is cuffing season! During the most wonderful time of the year, there are a few things on my mind the most important being: "What should I wear on this first date?" To me, first dates are the easiest way to tell whether or not a person is interested in you and that goes down to the tinniest detail. Because of this I believe that a first date can be summed in the three broad categories: Smile, Style and Substance.

Smile

People pay incredibly close attention to body language and because of this your smile is one of the first things a person notices. So smile big and smile proud. Don't feel awkward about your teeth (unless they're yellow of course!) or the same of your mouth. The truth is, if your potential partner found these things to be deal breakers...they wouldn't have asked you out in the first place. So go ahead and show off that smile!

Style

Although it may seem surface level, the easiest way for me to write someone off is if they have a poor sense of style. Hear me out though...humans are visual creatures. We're automatically wired to gravitate towards what we find is attractive. Because of that this is a pretty important step to me. On first dates, an outfit should say the following things: I know what I look like, I know where I'm going and I want to look good with you. For a simple day out try going casual with loose fitting articles in simple designs and cuts. For a night on the town go ahead and give your hair some extra attention and where those new heels that you've been breaking in. Either way, when you step out of the house you should feel confident, cute and willing to walk besides even the handsomest of company.

Substance

Last but certainly not least, Substance. Your date isn't just looking for a pretty doll. They want to get to know you, what makes you tick, what you enjoy and just how they can show you all the ways that they were listening. Because of this it is important to know yourself, not only so that you can answer the hard questions but so that you can prepare if you don't like your date.

Anthem is one of my favorite events on the grid. Whenever I go, I always find something worth buying. This round ushered in the beginning of spring and there was no shortage of pastels, florals and whimsy. Almost everything I'm wearing came from this round and I have to say, I've never felt cuter, so cute in fact that I went for a stroll downtown to show off my cute new threads. Pie Crusts & Promises

In the spirit of spring, I decided to indulge in one of my favorite activities...baking! Growing up on an orchard meant that I spent a lot of time baking and making dishes with fresh fruits. This is a particular favorite of mine as I absolutely love, love, love strawberries. All the ingredients used to make this pie either came from my garden or were bought at the market. I've included an ingredients list below but as for the recipe...well that's a family secret.
